MUST holds fruitful deliberations with the Cuban Ambassador

MUST hosted Her Excellency Dr. Tania Peres Xiques the Ambassador of Cuba to Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda on Monday, 13th May 2024. She was with Consul Eng. Saul Silverio Swaby Wilson and Prof. Yarina Farardo Tornes who is currently one of the two Professors at MUST. Prof. Yarina serves in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology while Prof. Carlos Manuel Cabreta Dreq is in the Department of Surgery in the Faculty of Medicine.

Welcomed by Vice Chancellor Prof. Celestino Obua, H.E Dr. Tania met the MUST leadership and held fruitful discussions on the partnership renewal between MUST and Cuba. Among the focus areas were the specialties of the Cuban expatriates, welfare, tenure of service, and renewal processes.

Other MUST staff in attendance were Prof. Nixon Kamukama the Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Academic Affairs, Assoc. Prof. Charles Tushabomwe-Kazooba Deputy Vice Chancellor in Charge of Finance and Administration, Mr. Melchoir Byaruhanga the University Secretary, Assoc. Prof. Joseph Ngonzi Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Ms. Sheila Niinye Twinamatsiko the International Relations Officer. MUST appreciates the successful partnership with Cuba in the Faculty of Medicine since 1989 and looks forward to more engagements in the future.
