Mbarara University of Science and Technology inaugurates New Contracts Committee

Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) is pleased to announce the inauguration of a new Contracts Committee on June 25, 2024. The ceremony commenced with a prayer by Dr. Johnes Obungoloch, the newly appointed chairperson.

The university secretary expressed gratitude to both the incoming and outgoing committees in his opening remarks.

He offered a warm welcome to all the committee members while outlining the meeting’s agenda. Appreciation for the outgoing committee’s efforts in upholding the university’s reputation was conveyed by Vincent Kwatampora from the procurement department. Dr. Kijambu echoed this sentiment, highlighting the positive impact achieved through the outgoing committee’s teamwork.

His Worship Joshua Mukulu, a Grade One Magistrate from Mbarara High Court, addressed the new committee members. He underscored the significance of their role, established by an Act of Parliament. Magistrate Mukuu emphasized the importance of adhering to the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets (PPDA) Act. He advised the committee members to gain a thorough understanding of the act and consult with legal counsel to guarantee their decisions align with the law. He cautioned them about potential legal consequences for violating the act.

The ceremony concluded with the swearing-in of the new committee members, who took oaths of secrecy and allegiance. MUST extends its heartfelt congratulations to the new Contracts Committee and eagerly anticipates their contributions to ensuring fair and transparent procurement practices at the university.

The new committee members are:

  • Dr. Johnes Obungoloch (Chairperson)
  • Ms. Ruth Nammara (Secretary)
  • Mr. Timothy Mugumya Ndiana (Esq.) (Member)
  • Dr. Wibroad Aryatwijuka (Member)
  • Dr. Robert Buwule Stalone (Member)

The committee will serve a three-year term, with the possibility of renewal based on performance.
